Trouble, Trouble and More Trouble World…!

While walking on the street the other day, I heard a song playing in one of the shops at loud volume. This gospel musician (a lady) was singing out her heart, asking God to protect her from her enemies, and to bless her and ashame them. The song really had a good rhythm you would easily love and the message was clear.

Today I have a problem with the way people (some, but many) think. People will easily talk about their insecurities than securities; they’ll talk about more about their problems than blessings; they’ll talk more their enemies than friends!

It’s had to find a person (even a musician) asking God to bless his friends, but almost every musician has a song about his enemies, or at least a line in one of his most popular songs. Should we say they have more enemies than friends? Or should we say enemies inspire people than friends? If it is true, then they are the wrong people, they do more “wrongs” than “goods”.

You’ll wake up in the morning and turn on the TV to see what happened in the world while you were asleep, and to my surprise, every time I do this, I’ll see and hear about the riot or demonstration in one European or Asian countries a bomb blast and the degree of its effects in one of the chaotic Arab countries.

I stopped watching the news broad casts in the morning just to protect my grateful morning attitude. You’ll easily hear about a fraud made by one of the top official of a globally recognized organization or strong government, but it is not easy to see any of those good official, who have served the world unselfishly, faithfully and with a devoted attitude being thanked, praised or even recognized in the morning news; they can only be brought to the screen when commenting on bad things (suspicions), and even still, little is talked about their deeds, only titles are given – so unfair!!!

Why do we have to talk (most) about the bad side of life and almost completely live out the good things happening in our world? The very picture of this world you’ll get when you watch the morning news will make the word seem the worst place man can live; everything in the news is generally bad news, many times magnified than its real size. Try it the next morning, even for a week, and you’ll agree with me.

I wish one day the world’s most popular broadcasting bodies will initiate a program were people thank God or fellow me for the good things they are experiencing; were people talk about their achievements and hoe grateful they are; were people thank the world superpowers, World Bank, the United Nations, The European Union, Global Fund, USAID, the Common Wealth and more for the good things they have done for the world and it’s inhabitants, especially the human race. I think this will help us (people) look at the world with a better perspective, with a more grateful attitude, not seeing it as a trouble, trouble and more trouble world every morning, day evening and night.

My appreciation goes to all people, organizations and governments that have played a big/small role, but contributed towards making this world a better habitat for man and the rest of the creatures, especially the United Nations and the Geographers like National Geography, Wild Life Authority, Animal planet and more of the kind. Let my good God bless you endlessly and abundantly for making this world a better place for us.

*Organizations, people and governments spend Billions and Trillions of different currencies to make this world a better place, but nobody, actually a few people are grateful for this.

Gossip and Rumor…

A few days back a friend called me complaining that she is bothered by the way neighbors attack her verbally through rumors. She was too upset about each word they talked about her and she wanted me to give her my opinion about attacking them and questioning them about each word they spoke about her. Making matters worse, she told me these neighbors talk about her when she’s hearing, but of course when they think she’s isn’t. So I told her, “Why bother your self? Just keep quiet, be silent. Don’t talk to them in any rude way or confront them over anything like gossip, they’ll get tired and give up."

This reminded me of the place were I grew from. My home town is at the extreme waste of Uganda, one or even the most blessed district in Western Uganda, and one of the most blessed in the country of course. This small but highly populated town has people with a common origin: this means that these people know each other well, so it is easy to identify themselves or identify any new member in the society. Now, one thing I has to let you get straight is, every time you visit an area were people easily identify themselves, know that you’ve reached an area where you have to be very careful with the way you behave because every step you take is being watched.

Considering this area were I grew up, in addition to it’s small size and high population, there was a problem of unemployment, which still exists, and this means that people, especially women have the time to carry on with “co-curricular” activities like gossip or rumoring, adultery, alcoholism, prostitution and many of such kind of activities.

Gossip or rumoring was one of the things we easily got used to while growing up. People would talk about anything they see and local “news” was easily spread through this thickly populated area.

Because of growing up in such an area, I learnt such things as;

1) Minding my business, especially since I hated gossip.

2) Avoiding the public eye

3) And, I grew stronger emotionally, since gossip or rumor couldn’t easily move me.

4) The best medicine to gossiping or rumoring people is being silent.

I always tell friends that silence is the best medicine for any kind of gossip or rumor. You see, sometimes people talk about us for good, for bad or while sharing some information say giving examples, and we call this gossip or rumor, yet some times the things they can have talked are true. Say for example, a neighbor might see you in the middle of the night with a young girl or a neighbor’s wife somewhere and tell a friend about it. Sometimes, in fact many times he or she can’t prove that he saw you but this does not mean that you should argue. Be quiet, just keep quiet; silence in such a case is golden. Let him or her talk and talk, but if you don’t reply, soon the topic will have no attention and your life will normalize.

We have experienced gossip or rumor, one that sometimes comes with false allegations and we still live on. Silence has rewarded us with the best gossipers and rumor mongers being our faithful friends rather than our enemies. We have been able to influence gossipers and rumor mongers how to speak more useful words than destructive ones.

You're best able to achieve this through silence.

Just Another Junk Article...

Now, this is just another funny story in one paper hear called "the onion". You see, sometimes you read something and feel so bad when you to keep it to yourself. This story as you see in the picticture above talks about a ghost plane; it's so funny how this "so far" piece of metal could make such a big story in so little time. So, let's share the fun...

*O, click it to enlarge to a readable size.

The Articles We Read...

One time a friend warned me about reading newspapers and I thought bad of him. The next time he told me that it's not good to take serious every article I read and I still though bad of him. Of course I had my own argument; can the writers and publishers be so unserious to present unserious articles?

But until I read this article, I could not believe that it could find a story so untrue and funny as this. This article was published in one teenage and naughty adult news paper here in Uganda.

O, the name of the news papers is "the Onion" and according to one teenager, she told me that this "Onion" paper is a good spice for her age.

In fact is contain what I would call "the perimature playboy articles and publicatons. The truth is that I had seen this picture, I fact these pictures about three months back on one of the popular information websites, and the truth is that what I about the "art piece" is different from what this writer is saying. Should it be untrue, then the writer is a funny and creative one, but should it be true, then guys, let's surf the net more seriously...
